Pirate Bug (Orius laevigatus) genome sequencing project.

Orius laevigatus, also known as the Pirate Bug, is a beneficial predator which feeds on crop pests: thrips, aphids and whiteflies. O. laevigatus is commercially available as a form of biological control and is widely used within Integrated Pest Management strategies. The genome of O. laevigatus will provide a useful resource for further research into beneficial predators and their relationships with pest species.
