Preparation and Characterization of Highly Stable Yttrium Sol

Yttrium sol is a high-value product with significant research importance and considerate development potential. In this paper, the stable neutral yttrium sol was prepared by the coordination method and adding stabilizer, the effects of the amount of citric acid, the type of stabilizer, the amount of stabilizer, the concentration of yttrium nitrate solution, the reaction time and the reaction temperature on the properties of yttrium sol were systematically investigated. The results showed that when the concentration of yttrium nitrate was 2 mol/L, the molar ratio of yttrium nitrate to citric acid was 1∶1.5, the mass ratio of yttrium nitrate to urea is 200∶1, the pH was adjusted by adding ammonia, and the reaction temperature was 80 ℃, under the condition of a reaction time of 45 minutes, the prepared yttrium sol has a Zeta potential of 46.35 mV, a viscosity of 19.45 cP, and the yttrium content of over 20%. It can be stably stored for more than half a year under room temperature and without light. The results show that all performance indicators of the yttrium sol prepared by this methodology meet the specified application requirements.
