Male sterility is important trait to develop seedless variety in citrus breeding program. Citrus male sterility is proposed to categorize cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) model in corporate with male sterile cytoplasm of Kishu mandarin (Kishu-cytoplasm). However, the molecular evidence is insufficient to prove the CMS model that citrus male sterility system is controlled by the interaction between sterile cytoplasm and nuclear gene of a restorer of fertility (Rf). In this project, to identify the candidates of Rf in citrus, we carried out transcriptional comparison by RNA-seq between a male sterile and a fertile variety, which have Kishu-cytoplasm.
