Genomic surveillance of E. coli, K. oxytoca and K. pneumoniae in ward sink drains of a hospital in Oxfordshire, and contemporaneous patient infections linked to surveyed wards. This study investigates the extent of patient- and staff-facing sink drain colonisation in three wards over a twelve week sampling period in 2017, with the objective of better understanding the risks posed by these reservoirs of often antimicrobial-resistant pathogens in close proximity to patients.
