De novo Transcriptome Sequencing to Dissect Candidate Genes Associated with Pearl Millet Grain Quality. Cenchrus americanus cultivar:Chadi Bajri, Damodar Bajri, Pusa1201, Pusa Composite 701

Pearl millet, being considered as orphan crop, is enriched with almost all the important biochemical nutrients required in human diet. In spite of being the nutri-cereal, very limited information is available on genes/ transcripts linked with the quality of the grains and the networking of respective pathways. Rancidity is one of the major problems in pearl millet flour; the genes/ enzymes associated with the lipid oxidation have not been characterized, till date. This project has been undertaken in order to identify the candidate genes/ transcripts linked with the grains quality and characterizing the network of pathways associated with rancidity.
