Processed 2021 Census of Population Data for Canada's Population Centres (Parquet)

This dataset provides a processed Parquet version of Statistics Canada’s 2021 Census of Population data for the census subdivision geographic level in Canada. It is based on the 2021 Census Profile comprehensive download files published by Statistics Canada, specifically the Population centres geography. A population centre (POPCTR) has a population of at least 1,000 and a population density of 400 persons or more per square kilometre, based on population counts from the current Census of Population. All areas outside population centres are classified as rural areas. Population centres are also grouped by size into small, medium, and large urban population centres. This release is part of the Data for Canada d4c-datapkg-statistical collection and is intended to support machine-readable, reproducible analysis using modern data tools and workflows.
