CIRHIS: Cellular Human immune Responses during controlled Human malaria Infection Studies (GHDC-SI-ID-53)

The goal of this project is to investigate whether we can use host-directed therapy (ruxolitinib) in conjunction with the anti-malarial drug artemether-lumefantrine to enhance immune responses in malaria-naïve individuals participating in a controlled human malaria infection model with P. falciparum-induced blood-stage malaria. With support from the Gates Foundation’s Collaboratory, we have generated immunoassay data on samples collected from study participants, as well as supernatants obtained from in vitro experiments.
