资源简介:
This is the simulated sea level variation rebuilding for the nearshore areas around Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. The Fisheries and Oceans Canada only has one permanent tide observation station running in PEI, which is the Charlottetown Tide Station. This simulation is to break through the limitation of the lack of long-term high-temporal-resolution regional sea level record around PEI, which applies to several locations with historic short-term records of temporary tide stations across PEI.The principle of this rebuilding is that - the water levels of each selected temporary tide station have the linear correlation with a geographically-connected permanent station, which generally has a significantly longer-term of record and can be used as its reference station. The correlations between the temporary stations and their reference stations can be got once they have the temporally-overlapped records and their coefficient of determination (R-squared) is over 0.6.It should be noted that the availability of the record of the simulated rebuilding for the locations of temporary stations fully depends on their reference stations. There are some unavoidable data losses in the records of the selected permanent stations, which could result from equipment failure, extreme weather, equipment maintenance, and etc. So, if the reference stations have any lost data points, they will be reflected in the simulated data for the associated temporary stations. The original records of the water levels can be found at the Canadian Tides and Water Levels Data Archive. The datums used in this dataset are Chart Datums (CDs), and the temporal resolution is hourly. More details of this dataset will be provided in the data descriptor of us.
