Biogeographic patterns of microbial communities in water-flooding petroleum reservoirs, China Targeted Locus (Loci). aquatic metagenome

Water flooding is an oil recovery process widely employed in China. These reservoirs harbor highly diverse microbial communities, but the structure of these communities, and the factors that affect their structure, remains poorly understood. To address this, 56 bacterial and 46 archaeal communities from 9 oilfields including 22 water-flooding reservoirs representing typical geographic zones of varying physic-chemical properties were investigated by 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing.
