Description of the data collected by observers in the French southern fisheries (Kerguelen, Crozet, Saint-Paul & Amsterdam, SIOFA) and the list of associated quality checks.

This document describes all the data fields that can be collected by scientific observers aboard french fishing vessels operating within the EEZ of Kerguelen, Crozet, Saint-Paul & Amsterdam and the SIOFA area. The fields names are in french which is the language used by observers. Each field is described and the format is given with the data validation constraints that can be thresholds or standardised vocabulary (“Referentiel”). The comprehensive content of each of the “Referentiel” is given in chapter 4. Chapter 5 provides a list of all the checkings items that can be used for quality assurance by observers at sea, each items contains up to 5 conditions and when those conditions are triggered the data are flagged so that the observer can cross check informations.
