Instruments at Mawson and Macquarie Is record the radon concentration in air at half hourly intervals. The data sets are continuous apart from calibrations and maintenance, since 1998 at Macquarie Is and 1999 at Mawson.
As well as the radon record, the raw data sets contain records of essential instrument parameters from which the reliability of the data can be assessed.
The lower limit of detection is about 40 mBq m-3.
This edited data set (Mawson 1999 and 2000) was produced by S. Whittlestone (Wollongong University) from an instrument designed and installed by ANSTO with the support of the Australia Antarctic Division and the Bureau of Meteorology. After October 2000, Stewart Whittlestone is no longer the chief investigator of this ASAC project. All enquiries should be directed to Wlodek Zahorowski.
