Deletion of Burkholderia cenocepacia cciIR system

We study the impact of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in determining the actual distribution of multi-player QS regulation systems and select one case study to see the effects of the removal of one QS module on the overall behavior of the population. Finally, we model these phenotypes mathematically and obtain predictions that are consistent with experimental results. This information enhances our general understanding of the biological significance of how QS circuits are arranged and illuminate on the possible, non-trivial outcomes of HGT events.
