European Wisent sequencing. European Wisent sequencing

Long-read sequencing data (HiFi) of a male wisent were collected with the aim to generate a de-novo assembly for Bison bonasus. The wisent bull was deeply sequenced and a primary assembly generated with hifiasm. The sequencing and assembly was done at the Animal Genomics (Prof. Hubert Pausch) group at ETH Zurich. The male wisent, its parents, and 3 additional wisent from captive populations were sequenced with Illumina paired-end reads to investigate the genomic architecture of the captive wisent population. The data have been made public prior to an anticipated publication from our group following the Fort Lauderdale principles, as confirmed in the Toronto Statement (Toronto International Data Release Workshop (Birney et al. 2009)
