Microbiome of Trachymyrmex septentrionalis and Mycetomoellerius turrifex ants, fungus, and associated soil samples Metagenome

We plan to observe the microbiome of Trachymyrmex septentrionalis and Mycetomoellerius turrifex ants and their fungus gardens in Texas. In doing so, we plan to see if any variables play a role in determining the microbiomes of the ant and fungal samples, such as ant species, location, or fungal clade. This will look to see how these microbiome assemblages are constructed, such as either through horizontal or vertical transmission.
