资源简介:
Our understanding of global climate and ability to predict future changes is limited by a lack of long-term (paleoclimate) data from the Southern Hemisphere (SH). Sub-Antarctic islands are the only landmasses between Antarctica and the mid latitudes where terrestrial paleoclimate records exist, making them crucial locations for linking data from the mid and high latitudes. Using lake sediments from sub-Antarctic islands, we will examine how the climate and ecosystems have changed over the last 2000 years. This will contribute vital information to understand SH climate and ecosystem variability. An 84.0 cm sediment core was collected in 2010 from the centre of Lake Tiobunga using a UWITEC gravity corer. The core was scanned using a micro x-ray fluorescent (µ-XRF) core scanner at 0.5 cm resolution.Fieldwork conducted in March 2010Analyses conducted between 2015-2020Spreadsheet details1. Notes – information on the sediment core and description of data worksheet2. Lake_Tiobunga_u-XRF – µ-XRF core scanning data
