During the first two centuries of the Princedom age and before the Pauline doctrine was originated, a debate concerning the genesis and the functions of money was being held between Proculians and Sabinians. In more specific terms, while the first ones emphasized the role of money as currency, the second ones stressed money as value. Moreover, not only did they discuss the functions of money, but they also focused on the replaceability of goods, another extremely important topic on which they did have different points of view.
