Beauveria bassiana on the gut microbiome and immunity-related genes Rhynchophorus ferrugineus

This study investigates the impact of Beauveria bassiana infection on immune-related gene expression and gut microbiota composition in red palm weevil (RPW) larvae. The findings reveal a significant correlation between fungal genome copy numbers and immune gene expression, particularly defensin in fat bodies, while also highlighting shifts in gut microbial communities following infection. Understanding these interactions provides valuable insights into fungal pathogenesis, host immune responses, and microbial dynamics, contributing to the development of effective microbial-based pest management strategies for RPW control.
