资源简介:
Borehole A–P. Detailed sedimentary logs measured in the sixteen Karoo borehole cores in the Orapa area. of central Botswana. The logs document the following properties of the sedimentary facies: lithology, bed thickness, nature of the bedding contact (gradational, sharp or erosional), grain size variations in bed, sedimentary structures, colour, macroscopic carbonaceous content, and bioturbation structures (invertebrate trace fossils and rootlets). Each bed was assigned a facies code based on grain size and sedimentary structures (Miall, 1996).
CORE PHOTOS BOREHOLE A–P. Core photographs of the sixteen borehole cores in the Orapa area. Core box numbers are recorded at the relevant interval in the sedimentary logs (see above).
SM TABLE 1. Summary of the lithological characteristics of the formally accepted lithostratigraphic units in the Lower Karoo Supergroup in the southeastern area of the Central Kalahari Sub-basin and northeast Botswana (tables are based on Smith, 1984). U = unconformable; C = conformable.
SM FIGURE 1 Palaeocurrent rose diagrams derived from foresets measurements of cross-bedded strata in the Kamotaka and Morupule formations.
SM FIGURE 2 Variations in lithology (a–d) and sandstone grain size (e–h) in the Ecca Group formations in the boreholes in the Orapa area. Values are in percentages. Note that claystone, siltstone, coaly mudstone, carbonaceous mudstones as well as coal are undifferentiated and listed under mudstone.
