Integrated omics for characterization of mouse gut microbiome composition and function impacted by obesity and drug treatment

16S r-RNA sequencing, metagenomic, and metaproteomic measurements were acquired and evaluated for the mouse gut microbiome under two different obesity perturbations, each with or with opioid treatment. All mice are from the C57BL/6J genetic background, and used as control vs. diet- or genetically-induced obesity. Half the mice were treated with morphine by subcutaneous injection to evaluate subsequent microbiome effects. Datasets were mined and the information was integrated to explore compositional vs. functional distinctions within these sub-populations.
