Whole genome sequencing (WGS) data from South African isolates initially identified as isoniazid mono-resistant by diagnostic algorithms in place in South Africa. These WGS data, in addition to targeted sequencing (Deeplex Myc-TB, Sanger) and allele-specific PCR analysis, demonstrate that these strains carry a RpoB I491F mutation associated with rifampicin resistance, thus re-classifying these strains as multi-drug resistant. The dataset also comprises WGS data from strains from eSwatini that also carry the same mutation as previously reported by Sanchez-Padilla et al. (Detection of drug-resistant tuberculosis by Xpert MTB/RIF in Swaziland. N Engl J Med 2015; 372:1181â82)
