Gut microbiota of rainbow trout fed with Yarrowia lipolytica. Fish gut microbiome

The yeast grown on food or agricultural wastes can be used as a novel source of sustainable and low cost feeds. Yarrowia lipolytica can be grown on acetate and rich digestate of food waste. The yeast can have high nutritional value in terms of protein and intracellular lipids. Additionally, the cell wall has bioactive components like beta glucan which has health promoting effects. Therefore, it will be interesting to observe the modulation in gut microbiota of rainbow trout when fed with Y. lipolytica.
