Landess High Wall, a cutbank exposure of a late Pleistocene terrace along Chorizo Creek, lies within in the Black Mesa region at the intersection of Oklahoma, Colorado, and New Mexico. Profile sediments date to 12,321 ± 35 RCYBP at the base, while augered sediments yielded dates of 21,069 ± 52 and 21,276 ± 55 RCYBP. Pollen and phytolith samples collected from this stratigraphic sequence were analyzed to provide a paleoenvironmental interpretation of local vegetation extending to the last glacial maximum.
