Wave Glider Observations of Near-Surface Meteorology and SST in the Northwestern Bay of Bengal, May–June 2024 and 2025 (EKAMSAT)

This dataset contains hourly near-surface meteorological and sea surface temperature observations from Wave Gliders deployed in the northwestern Bay of Bengal (near 86°E, 12°N) during 4 May – 7 June 2024 and 7 May – 7 June 2025, as part of the ONR-funded EKAMSAT program. Five Wave Gliders were deployed each year, equipped with Vaisala WXT-530 weather stations mounted ~1 m above the sea surface, measuring wind, air temperature, humidity, and pressure. Winds were adjusted to 10 m and air temperature and humidity to 2 m using the TOGA COARE 3.5 bulk algorithm. The file provides a single hourly time series representative of the site, obtained by averaging all available observations across the five gliders at each hour. These data support Cerovečki et al. (2026), Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans (DOI to be added on acceptance). This is a preliminary release (v1.0) to accompany manuscript submission.
