Paddy soils cannot directly consume atmospheric methane except after incubated with high concentration methane. The goal of this project is to monitor the gain and loss process of atmospheric methane oxidation activity of this paddy soil by microcosms. Changes of total microorganism and methane-oxidizing bacteria in this process were investigated as well to understand which bacteria or bacterial group responsible for this process.
