Microbial Community analysis of TattaPani Hotspring Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan

TattaPani hotspring is unexplored resource of thermophilic bacteria found in Kotli district of AJK. Though the hot spring is known to the community and tourists as source of natural hot water yet its potential for commercial utilization and scientific significance has to be identified and utilized for economic activity on sustainable basis. The present investigation has been based to map the microbial diversity found in hot water samples using metagenomics approach. This research is first of its kind and has the potential to attract the attention of scientists and commercial organizations. The striking biodiversity from this hot spring has opened new horizons for isolation, characterization and metabolic potential of commercially important bacterial enzymes.
