This statistic shows the number of fatal, serious and slight road accidents that were caused by vehicle defect factors in Great Britain (UK) in 2018. Defective breaks was the main cause of accidents among those caused by vehicle defect factors. Slight accidents due to defective brakes was the highest number in that year, with 400 accidents. However, number of fatal accidents due to illegal, defective or under inflated tires was higher than fatal accidents due to defective brakes. Other notable causes of slight accidents due to vehicle defect factors include illegal, defective or under inflated tires and defective steering or suspension. These other causes recorded 326 and 150 accidents, repectively.
