Gut microbiome impact on neuroinflammation, neurotransmission and learning in rats with liver disease treated with rifaximin.

In this work, the effect of rifaximin on the gut microbiome was evaluated in the rat model of CCl4-induced liver, as well as in healthy rats, to determine specific changes in the composition of the gut microbial populations and their functionality. In addition, potential relationships were identified between SCFA and disease-related metabolic pathways.
