Final report : Maryland oyster reef restoration - 1999
收藏资源简介:
The Maryland Oyster Reef Restoration Project 1999 was initiated in July 1999 by the Shellfish Division of the Maryland Department ofNatural Resources (DNR). The objectives of the project were to construct 3-dimensional manmade oyster habitat by planting shells in piles; to construct piles limited in size to conserve shells and maximize area on which to plant seed oysters; to populate the restored sites by seed oyster plantings and natural spat set, if it occurred on site; and to attract participation by other oyster restoration groups in Maryland via the planting of seed oysters. The site restored by this grant was located within an oyster sanctuary in order to develop long term, permanently protected oyster populations and reef communities. The sanctuary is located in the Severn River at Annapolis, Maryland. Grant no. NA96FU0373
