Supporting datasets and MATLAB codes for the unprecedented precipitation analysis in: Ng, C.-P., L. R. Leung, Q. Fu, and Q. Zhang (2026). Increase in Unprecedented Hourly Rainfall Event in a Warming World. Manuscript submitted to Science. The datasets are derived from hourly precipitation observations provided by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and ERA5 reanalysis data (single levels and pressure levels). The main MATLAB scripts are: OBS.m – reproduces Figs. 1–2 and Figs. S1–S7, S15, using observational data. ERA5.m – reproduces Figs. 3–4 and Figs. S8–S14, S16. To facilitate public release, only 0.25° resolution datasets are provided. Consequently, some results may differ slightly from those presented in the manuscript. If you use these datasets or codes, please cite both the associated publication and this Zenodo record.
