These contour lines provide basic elevation information for earth science studies and mapping applications in the park. The data are utilized by the scientific and resource management communities for change research, hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping and visualization applications. These contour lines provide the best available public domain vector elevation data of the conterminous USGS topographic quadrangle footprints in a seamless format. These contour lines are derived from diverse source data, processed to a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. All contour line data are distributed in Universal Transverse Mercator in units of meters, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are provided in units of feet and are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88) over the conterminous quadrangle boundary footprint. The corresponding Integration of Resource Management Applications (IRMA) NPS Data Store reference is Great Smoky Mountains National Park 40 ft Contours.
本等高线数据集可为园区内的地球科学研究与地图制图应用提供基础高程信息。该数据已被科研与资源管理领域广泛应用于变化研究、水文建模、资源监测、地图制图及可视化应用。本数据集提供了美国本土范围内美国地质调查局(United States Geological Survey, USGS)地形标准图幅覆盖区域内可获取的最优公有领域矢量高程数据,采用无缝格式存储。本等高线数据源自多源原始资料,并已统一处理至同一坐标系与垂直测量单位。所有等高线数据均以米为单位,采用通用横轴墨卡托(Universal Transverse Mercator, UTM)坐标系,并符合1983北美大地基准(North American Datum of 1983, NAD 83)规范。在美国本土地形图幅覆盖范围内,所有高程值均以英尺为单位,并以1988北美垂直基准面(North American Vertical Datum of 1988, NAVD 88)为基准。本数据集对应的资源管理应用集成(Integration of Resource Management Applications, IRMA)美国国家公园管理局(National Park Service, NPS)数据仓库索引为:大烟山国家公园40英尺等高线数据。
