Items with only two categories or values (possibilities to respond) are called dichotomous. Items with more than two categories, qualitative or quantitative or mixed, are called polytomous. For these items or for any mixture of dichotomous and polytomous items we develop a new algorithm to find a FPA solution in one (k = 1) or more (k > 1) dimensions.
