Lake Hazen Watershed Rivers Monitoring, Quttinirpaaq National Park, Northern Ellesmere Island, Nunavut

Snowmelt runoff is a small portion of the annual water loadings to Lake Hazen. Lake Hazen watershed glaciers are melting at unprecedented rates which potentially contribute to much higher loads of nutrients and legacy contaminants to Lake Hazen than snowmelt. This study aims to understand glacial inputs of nutrients and contaminants to Lake Hazen, and how those summer inputs alter the water quality of Lake Hazen itself during the open-water season.
