Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) is a widely cultivated root crop that is susceptible to Fusarium solani (Fsb) infection, resulting in significant yield losses. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying disease resistance is crucial for developing effective control strategies. In this study, we investigated the metabolic and transcriptional responses of two sweet potato cultivars, 'Eshu 11' and 'Shengli 100', with contrasting levels of disease resistance to Fsb infection. Our findings provide new insights into the molecular basis of sweet potato resistance to Fsb and highlight the potential for breeding and utilizing resistant varieties to improve crop productivity and reduce yield losses. The integrated analysis of metabolomic and transcriptomic data provided insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying disease resistance in sweet potato.
