Maximum Depth Sequencing was used to examine strand-specific mutation frequencies of base substitutions characteristic of deamination events in B. subtilis (GenBank: AL009126.3). Mutation rates/frequencies from the WT B. subtilis strain were compared to three mutants deficient in alternative excision repair (endoV-), mismatch repair (mutSL-), and both (endoV-mutSL-).
