The aim of the project is the whole genome shotgun sequencing of the Malus x domestica cv Golden Delicious. The WGS strategy aims at obtaining a 4x coverage using the Sanger method and 11x coverage by pyrosequencing (454/Roche). Sequencing is performed by IASMA Research Center, Myriad Genetics inc. and 454 Life Science/Roche. The program will be developed within an international collaboration which includes Washington State University USA, Western Cape University ZA, and INRA Angers FR.
