PMGSY Habitation-wise Details of Core Road Network

This web layer contains data of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This provides information on number of core network roads, core network roads length (kms), targeted habitations etc. This provides information at the district level. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), was launched by the Govt. of India to provide connectivity to unconnected Habitations as part of a poverty reduction strategy. Govt. of India is endeavoring to set high & uniform technical & management standards & facilitating policy development and planning at State level in order to ensure sustainable management of the rural roads network. Core Network The Core Network is the network of all the Rural Roads that are necessary to provide basic access to all the Habitations. Basic access is defined as single all-weather road connectivity to each Habitation. As already indicated, the effort under the PMGSY is to provide single all-weather road connectivity to each eligible Habitation by way of connecting it to another Habitation having all-weather connectivity or to an all-weather road, in such a way that there is access to, inter alia, Market Centres. A Core Network is extracted out of the total Network mentioned in the DRRP and consists of existing roads as well as the roads required to be constructed to the as yet unconnected Habitations. However, it will not consist of all the existing roads of the DRRP since the objective is to establish ‘basic access’ i.e., one all-weather road connectivity to each habitation.
