Living with a Cleft Lip: Challenges Beyond Appearance
收藏资源简介:
This research explores the challenges faced by people born with a cleft lip or cleft palate. While many people consider this condition only an aesthetic issue, it can also affect feeding, hearing, speech development, dental health, and social interaction. The study examines both the medical and social difficulties experienced by children and adults with this condition, particularly in low-income regions where access to treatment is limited. The research also discusses the role of charitable organizations such as Smile Train and Operation Smile in providing free surgeries and medical support. The findings suggest that the main challenge is often not the condition itself, but unequal access to healthcare. Increasing awareness and improving access to treatment can significantly improve the quality of life of people born with cleft lip and cleft palate.
