A mechanistic analysis of species-specific organ size and pattern formation

The speed of development and the size of organs and individuals are overall controlled by species-specific genetic programs. The purpose of this study is to elucidate these species-specific size control. To this end, we prepared the mouse embryos injected with the rat ES cells and reared them in the mouse mother for 9 days. The neural tube was manually prepared and the rat cells developed in the mouse embryos were isolated by flow cytometry.
