Chronic Hepatitis E Virus Infection in individuals without evidence for immune deficiency

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an emerging zoonotic pathogen that responsible for acute hepatitis E, and under some circumstances, chronic hepatitis E. Chronic HEV infection has been increasingly recognized and reported since the first report in solid-organ transplant patients by Kamar in 2008. However, to date, chronic HEV infection cases were only reported in immunocompromised patients. The purpose of this project is to study the normal immune function of hepatitis E infected patients and the detection of various indicators after infection.
