M6A is one of the most abundant internal mRNA modifications, known to regulate mRNA stability, splicing, and translation efficiency in eukaryotic cells. Viral infections are increasingly recognized to alter host and viral RNA m6A patterns, impacting both viral replication and host antiviral responses. Therefore, it is hypothesized that the presence or absence of TGEV ORF7 could differentially influence m6A modification and gene expression in host cells, thus modulating the outcome of TGEV infection.
