We investigated what plant taxa can be identified in Holocene sediments (Lake Stiuci and Lake Brazi) using simple barcoding primers that target the chloroplast genome of higher plants and mosses, and how the DNA-based taxon lists and ecological community reconstructions compare with that recorded by the plant macrofossil and pollen.
