A harmonized global multi-resolution reference dataset of forest aboveground biomass density from field and lidar observations

This release contains a global multi-resolution reference dataset of forest aboveground biomass (AGB) density compiled from harmonized field observations and lidar-derived biomass datasets. The dataset was constructed by standardizing input records, assigning them to 5-year reference windows from 1985 to 2015, retaining only observations in persistent forest, and applying outlier filtering prior to aggregation. It includes three CSV files at 0.01°, 0.05°, and 0.1° resolution. Records are provided for field, lidar-derived, and combined source types, and each record reports mean AGB, AGB standard deviation, and sample count for a unique grid-cell–year–source-type combination. The dataset is designed for biomass-product evaluation, model benchmarking, and scale-aware forest carbon analyses, rather than as a wall-to-wall biomass map.
