资源简介:
This collection comprises site images, an X-ray image, and vector drawing from an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching on land off the A508, Pitsford Reservoir, Brixworth, Northamptonshire. The work was undertaken by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) between October and November 2014. The evaluation targeted known geophysical anomalies and revealed archaeological deposits consisting of ditches, gullies, post holes representing a series of enclosure systems, property/land boundaries, possibly structures; evidence for intensive local occupation and dating from the mid Iron Age through to the 2nd century AD. The Iron Age activity was focused around three enclosures and a trackway on a north-west - south-east alignment in the centre of the site. To the north and south, two discrete areas of complex Roman archaeology were identified, dating predominantly to the late 1st - 2nd century AD.
