Between July 2010 and September 2011, samples of dissolved organic carbon were
collected from shallow groundwater wells in a meander bend of the East Fork Jemez
River in the Valles Caldera National Preserve. These samples were analyzed by
fluorescence spectroscopy to produce excitation-emission matrices. Fluorescence
Index is a metric derived from that analysis.
