Mesocosm: Fluorescent in situ hybridization of microaggregates, LTMOSE, a long-term marine oil snow experiment, abundances of Alcanivorax and Alteromonas

A mesocosm scale experiment was conducted to monitor the temporal changes in microbial diversity of microaggregates that form in response to the presence of oil and chemically dispersed oil. Fluorescent labeled probes were developed to specifically target microorganisms of interest to better understand the microbial structure and evolution of microaggregates.
