ARC Green Communities

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) developed the Green Communities Program in 2009 to assist local governments in reducing their overall environmental impact. The program identifies specific measures that local governments can implement to make their communities more sustainable. From gaining LEED certification in government buildings, to building bike and pedestrian trails for citizens’ connectivity, Green Communities helps cities and counties create healthier environments for their citizens and their future. This map highlights just some of the green initiatives that certified Green Communities have implemented to lighten their environmental footprints. Many of these exemplify ways anyone can go green — at home and in the workplace.
