GPDs, female body mass at mating and weaning vs litter size, 03 March 2025 Date = 22 Jan 2020. I created this file from SYSTAT file = GUNNLITT, which I created on 27 Aug 2008 I assume that I check all data for this file TWO TIMES when I created it. OLD File name = GPDs, Littsize vs female weight, 06 Feb 2020 Year = 89 = 1989, 90 = 1990, 94 = 1994, etc. These data from Petrified Forest National Park only--i.e., no data from GPDs at Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC) of Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) or Visitor Center Colony (VCC) of VCNP On 05 May 2026, I cannot remember why Fig 14.5 does not include data from RMC or VCC. Case number (2 through 374) = GPD designation. No eartag numbers here. I considered data from the same female in different years to be independent Blank cell = no data Female body mass during mating season = body mass in March or early April = just before, during, or just after mating season Most female body masses during mating season are <=15 April, with a few exceptions--for example, when a female aroused late from hibernation and mated later than most other females Female body mass at weaning = body mass near time of first emergence of her weanlings Data shown here are from only those females that weaned a litter. Similar files for BTPDs and WTPDs show data when female did NOT wean a litter (litter size = 0)--but statistical analyses for female body mass vs litter size did not include litter size = 0--i.e., litter sizes = 0 was excluded for all four species was excluded for all four species Repeat: Data and statistical analyses and Fig 14.5 from all four species for maternal body mass (X2) vs litter size litter size includes only females that weaned a litter GPD litter size = number of weanlings that emerged from natal nursery burrow File name = Fig 14.5, GPDs, female body mass at mating and weaning vs litter size, 03 March 2025 Remember: Yearling females almost always DID copulate for GPDs, UPDs, and WTPDs-- but not for BTPDs These data used for Figure 14.5 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 03 March 2025. Female age = number of years since first emergence from the natal nursery-burrow All body masses are in GRAMS. Litter size = number of juveniles per litter that emerged from natal nursery-burrow Wt = weight = body mass File name = Fig 14.5, GPDs, maternal body mass at mating and weaning vs litter size, 04 May 2026
