Microbial contamination pattern of contact lens care solutions used by allergic conjunctivitis patients.

Approximately 15-20% of the world population is affected by some form of allergy, and ocular symptoms are present in 40-80% of allergic patients. There is no report indicating the association of allergic conjunctivitis (AC) with particular groups of bacteria. Contact lens (CL) wear is one of the risk factors for AC. In this study, microbial contamination patterns of contact lens care solutions used by AC patients and healthy control without allergic symptoms was evaluated by 16S rDNA sequencing analysis on illumina platform. In addition, similarity of microbiota in CL care solution and tear was compared.
