This study identified a key gene (GhWL1) in regulating leaf development by a T-DNA insertion mutant. It was confirmed that the GhWL1-GhH1 complex positively regulated gibberellin 2-beta-dioxygenase 1 (GhGA2OX1) by directly binding to its promoter, and overexpression of GhGA2OX1 in WT produced a leaf shrinkage phenotype, establishing the GhWL1-GhH1-GhGA2OX1 module and highlighting its essential contribution to leaf development.
