Haloalkaline biodesulfurization is widely applied to treat sour gas streams. The process uses sulfide oxidizing bacteria as catalysts to form sulfur that can be further used as a fungicide. In this study, we compared the microbial composition of five full-scale plants sampled in 2011. The 454 pyrosequencing was performed based on the V6-8 region 16S rRNA gene.
